From the Editor:
Our first issue is here! We are extremely proud (and excited!) to present these five wonderfully imaginative stories, each of which have made significant contributions to the unique, earthly-but-unearthly voice we’re aiming to establish. First up, we have Alex Aro’s “Desert Lights,” a curious tale about a young man’s strange, skinless journey toward something new. Next comes C.E. Hyun’s “Fire Season,” a beautiful story blending lucid dreams and long-lost friendship. Then we have Beth Spencer’s “Dinos,” a divorcee’s absurdly wonderful relationship with some precocious backyard Tyrannosaurs. Next is Marc Lowe’s “Burnt Offering,” a writer’s nightmarish efforts to ward off the demons. And finally, we bring you Adam C. Richardson’s “Bus Quakes,” which relates an ordinary man’s anything-but-ordinary morning commute. So if you’re all set, pour a cup of Earl Grey, hunker down, and immerse yourself in these fantastic concoctions of the strange and the beautiful, of the known and the grotesque, in these five superb tales that represent the beginnings of Swamp Biscuits and Tea.
